The Chemistry Industry Association of Canada (CIAC) welcomes new member, Canada Kuwait Petrochemical Corporation (CKPC). Based in Alberta, CKPC is a joint venture between Pembina Pipeline Corporation and Petrochemical Industries Company K.S.C. of Kuwait. CKPC is in the front-end engineering design (FEED) phase of the development of a world-scale integrated propane dehydrogenation and polypropylene upgrading complex.
This Project is an opportunity to develop crucial new market demand for propane in the Province of Alberta. The polypropylene would be transported to markets across North America and internationally. Polypropylene is one of the world's most commonly used polymers. Traditional uses include automobile plastics, medical supplies, home appliances, transparent containers as well as numerous other applications.
“CKPC welcomes the opportunity to be a part of CIAC and views its membership as an ideal opportunity to learn and contribute to best practices for safe operations through Responsible Care®,” said Stuart Taylor, Director, CKPC.
“We are excited about welcoming CKPC as a new member, and are very encouraged with the work they are doing to grow Alberta's petrochemical industry,” said Bob Masterson, CIAC President and CEO. “We recognize and appreciate the commitment CKPC has made to Responsible Care, the chemistry industry’s UN-recognized sustainability initiative. We look forward to working with CKPC as they integrate the ethics and principles of Responsible Care to innovate for safer and more environmentally friendly products and processes in support of sustainable operations.”
