Responsible Care Verification

To help Chemistry Industry Association of Canada companies assure themselves and the public that the ethic and practices of Responsible Care® are indeed in place and driving continuous improvement, the Responsible Care verification process was developed with the involvement and continuing oversight of outside stakeholders.  This process has three purposes:
  • To help the companies improve
  • To help the industry improve
  • To improve credibility
Every three years companies are verified by teams of industry experts, public advocates and local citizens, who write a consensus report summarizing the verification process and players, opportunities for improvement, findings requiring corrective action and successful practices. Once the team has successfully completed their work (with repeat visits as necessary) the company is presented with a verification certificate.

New companies are verified three years after joining the Chemistry Industry Association of Canada using a comprehensive Responsible Care-in-Place Verification protocol, with subsequent triennial verifications following a more focused protocol. Verification reports are made available to their local communities and other interested parties by the verified company and by the Chemistry Industry Association of Canada through this website.
